Plex’s official position, expressed by many staff members, in many threads, is that they do not care whether they show offensive, obnoxious, inappropriate, or incorrectly targeted ads because they use an ad auction system and have no plans to moderate or intervene. If you don’t believe me, you can see these threads:

[I don’t speak Spanish, but am bombarded by Spanish language ads](https://forums.plex.tv/t/i-don-t-speak-spanish-but-am-bombarded-by-spanish-language-ads/910891) ←- Here you can see a Plex employee locking a thread when I said exactly what I just said because they were mad at me about it.

> I know it’s poltical season and both parties are running ads but there needs to be some sort of restriction or option to skip the poltical ad that features the couple about to have sex. It’s loud, abrupt and lewd and there’s absolutely no content warning. I was watching the platorm while my 7 year old nephew was in the room and comercial caught me off guard. I quickly click off and tried to go back to resuming my show but the ad was in the line up again. Hear me out, I am not a prude and fully u…

> I’m completely okay watching ads, but the religious ads playing every break have got to go (I’m looking at you, GCU). How do I get ads tailored to me? I’ve been using Plex for a few years and it still plays the same religious ads over and over. I don’t look at this stuff online, so why are the ads so cr\*ppy?

Separately, their position about Plex Pass is that the money you pay for Plex Pass has nothing to do – and will never have anything to do – with the free content, which is ad supported. So they have zero interest in allowing you to pay to make ads go away. (This might seem confusing, and I agree – Plex’s core business offering is deeply confusing.)

Here you can see multiple threads that are about the exact issue and show that users are widely confused:

> [@No adds on my own content. Especially for lifetime members!](https://forums.plex.tv/t/no-adds-on-my-own-content-especially-for-lifetime-members/893469/):

> We should not have commercials on our own content. Plex wants to put commercials on their content then that is their prerogative but not on my content! As a lifetime member I should at least be given the ability to skip commercials.

> [@ADS after you pay](https://forums.plex.tv/t/ads-after-you-pay/932449/):

> Are there still ads after you subscribe

I can’t imagine any of this helps since of course the answer I’m giving you is “the people you’re paying money to have no interest in fixing the problems you have with their product”, but I think if you investigate you’ll find it’s true. Sorry!
