# Port 53

Hi all,
I have recently started using Plex Connect on my ATV 3. It was all working fine and the install guide worked well but i had to restart my mac and since then when i attempt to boot plex either manually or using the daemon tool it says port 53 is already in use.
Firstly, how do i clear Port 53. I have looked at various terminal commands that display what is showing what is in the port, and i cant see a process. Secondly how does something fill a port? Forgive my ignorance, I am new to this sort of thing.

Install guide: -\> set up a launchctl daemon
If that is done, PlexConnect is most likely already running... and sitting on the port.
Do a "sudo launchctl list | grep plexconnect" to check.

Above is the response on terminal - what does this mean? I have no icon on my mac to indicate the software is running. I did before the initial shut down.

You are using the bash plist which loads PlexConnect during boot for you automatically. Restart OS X and see if your aTV works, you should be using the plist or starting plexconnect manually not both.

I have done that, it doesn't boot. There is no icon to indicate it is running. On my ATV the app works but says there is no library. If i then go for a manual boot on my mac, it says port 53 already in use.

Daemon: It's a process on your system, it doesn't need an icon nor a window. Additionally it's started at system boot without user action. If the "sudo...grep..." line answers like "515 0 com.plex.plexconnect.bash", PlexConnect itself is running fine. See WIKI for some more details.
But then PlexConnect is "just" a connector app to Plex or PlexMediaServer (hence the name...). You might have to run the latter manually - depending on it's settings - to be able to see/browse/use your local library.
