Hello there,

I noticed that some of my media files were ignored. It’s a bit hard to understand what’s going on but I think Plex doesn’t play well with this. For example, the file “My Series [01].mkv” was identified as being the same episode “My series [02].mkv”.

There is actually multiple tags between brackets (like “[Sports] My Series [02][x264][1080p].mkv” and files are just plain ignored.

Is there anything that can be done about this other than renaming each file? Why is Plex ignoring these files?

Thanks!

Plex ignores anything between square brackets […]
see file naming conventions…

Thanks @nydave69, I’m aware of the naming conventions and I would never use brackets myself but I didn’t name these files unfortunately.

Guess I’ll have to rename them manually 😒

To add to Trumpy’s post:

1. Plex ignores anything within square brackets `Nice Movie (Year) [I can yell at anyone here and be ignored]`.mkv`

2. FileBot is incredibly powerful and once you start using it, you will never have an issue with PMS not matching. I only suggest you take your time and let it do the lookup and suggesting (it gives you chance to approve everything before the final rename and move into perfect structure).

3. My, very basic, naming templates are: (first is for Movie mode, second is for Episode mode)

```auto
/nas/movies/{n} ({y})/{n} ({y})
/nas/television/{n}/Season {s.pad(2)}/{n} - {s00e00} - {t}
```
