Professional installer - Server with Plex

Hi everyone - first, thanks in advance for any advice. Chicago, IL Plex user (relevance below)

I’ve, for lack of a better term, cobbled together a system using a Drobo for media storage and a windows PC for the Plex server. I’m sure there are many more options both within the plex software and outside hardware that could make this thing run better and smoother, including transcoding 4K files, etc.

At one point, Plex was going to put together a list of professional installers that could help install a system for those of us who don’t have the time to figure this out and could use an assist. I don’t think anything ever came of it, but if anybody knows of an installer in the Chicago area - I would love an introduction.

thanks again for the help!!

I’m going to do that annoying thing where I don’t address the question you asked, but get on a different soapbox. I apologize in advance.

I don’t think anyone should use a Plex installer service. Once your server is up you still need to understand how it works to keep it running happily. Unless your installer is going to handle everything in the future, you are better off learning how to maintain Plex yourself, and the first step there is leaning how to install and configure it.

And here’s the thing, you already did it. I doubt a pro install is going to give you a markedly better experience than whatever you could do yourself with the experience you already have.

Really, I do apologize, I know that’s irritating and not what you asked. But I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t think it was true, too.

If you do decide to take it on yourself, between this forum and Reddit I am sure you can get the help you need.
