# PS3 bluray rips without transcoding

Hi guys,

&nbsp;

At the moment I'm thinking about ripping some of my bluray collection to my plex server. My intention is to play them through a PS3 which serves my media. My home server where I store all my media is not capable &nbsp;of transcoding (not powerful enough) so I guess the format must be PS3 compatible (so probably MP4?).

&nbsp;

So right now the process I'm looking at is initially ripping the bluray with MakeMKV and then encoding it with HandBrake to MP4 and then placing the file into the server for plex to serve.

&nbsp;

Does anyone have any tips or recommendations? Is my process above likely to work?

&nbsp;

I'll probably just go ahead with it and give it a go anyway.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

If you've got an insight please let me know.
