# PySerial Support?

I need to be able to install PySerial on my Rasplex based Pi2 so that I can send commands to my usb connected arduino that controls my tv. Any suggestions? Rasplex is openelec based, right? So I cant simply install it like any other linux distro.

No, there is no apt-get or dpkg in Rasplex, same with OpenELEC (try search the Internet for "pyserial OpenELEC" and you will find that the only way is to compile OpenELEC with the pyserial libraries, this is not part of the standard build of OpenELEC or Rasplex.
You could try Kodi, but not sure without spending time researching this, but you could probably do that yourself.

Compile openelec itself or you mean compile the app within openelec?

And I have been doing quite a bit of research into it. I just haven't found any solutions. Openelec is a bit of a mystery to me. I saw a post on their forums about about someone trying to do it, but it doesn't look like they were successful and the information given seemed incomplete.

As far as I know nobody has successfully done this, if you could fathom out how to do it you would have to recompile Rasplex using the modified OpenElec source.
Doubt whether you would ever get this to work, sorry.
