# QNAP Transcoding now slow

Server Version#: 1.41.4.9399
Player Version#: iOS 8.44
Has there been any changes recently with QNAP and HW transcoding, I have a QNAP ts-453D which has always been able to handle majority of 4k HDR / DV content I throw at it down to 1080p / 720p and normally transcodes as a speed of about 3.0+ as reported by Tautulli.
However recently I’ve noticed that the transcoding barely gets above 1.0 which results in playback keep stopping and buffering. Playback is locally over my LAN so no issues from a bandwidth perspective.
Quality always now shows as 0.064Mbps when using convert automatically as well.

Recommend you downgrade to the Public release 1.41.3
There have been unexpected downsides to the changes in 1.41.4 which Engineering is now investigating

I was already on the public release and upgraded to the beta to see if it resolved the issues.

If you’re running 1.41.3, I would very much like to see your server DEBUG logs ZIP file which captures the start of the transcode session.
With it I’ll know what the transcoder is configuring for.
If you don’t mind, to make it easier to isolate, would you please use Plex/web for this?

Hi ChuckPa,
Please see attached debug logs.
I started playback on original quality and the transcoder was working at about 22x speed to convert from mkv to mp4. I switched from original to convert automatically and then started to have issues. I also tried 1080p 20Mbps and had the same issues.
