# Rasplex and video from usb drive

Hi Everyone,&nbsp;

I would like know if Rasplex can play video from usb DISK ?? If it's possible how ? because i don't find how :(

Rasplex is based on PHT which is designed to stream from a Plex Server. &nbsp;It does not have an option for local playback. &nbsp;You would want to use&nbsp;OpenELEC which is the base for RasPlex. &nbsp;It uses XBMC (or whatever it's new name is now) to play files from USB and network shares.

The power of Plex is that you have a central server that can, if need be, transcode the video to a format that can be used by a client
