# Rasplex + PMS on NAS

just a quick question:
if i want to use my raspberry pi running rasplex as the client, does my nas on which i intend to install pms need to have transcoding capabilities?

but …
you need to only have files that the rpi can play. h.264 for video notably.

MPEG-2 and VC-1 work as well, provided you buy a (cheap) license from the Pi store.
