# Redundant Actor Images

**Question:** Does Plex allow for the use of a consolidated .actors folder within a library?
**Background:**
I’m running a Plex Server on a Synology NAS and have XBMC agent installed for metadata. I use an external application (MediaElch) for initial metadata scraping. The current settings for MediaElch treat the metadata (primarily for Movies) separately, meaning that each movie’s folder contains its respective information (posters, fan art, different versions of the film, etc.) including an “.actors” folder.
As it stands, I have a large quantity of movies, which results in a number of “duplicate” actor files (namely images). For example, the eight Harry Potter films each have a picture for Daniel Radcliff, so I have 8 instances of the same picture of him in the respective films’ .actors folder(s) (not to mention any other films in which he’s billed), which is obviously redundant. Because of the sheer quantity of movies I have, there are a large number of “duplicate” files in this regard, which I would like to eliminate to save some space.
Does Plex allow for using a consolidated metadata folder structure to allow for reducing redundant files? Does Plex allow for the use of a consolidated .actors folder within a library? If so, how do I go about enabling this? I couldn’t find anything in other forum posts or Plex Support Articles.
