Hi Everyone… I’m a complete tech dummy… a buddy set me up, no longer have contact with him and now I’m lost!

I have bought a remote pass but it isn’t working outside my network. I have a Rogers 5G router, that I connected a Deco Mesh to. The synology DS216play is plugged into the main deco. UPNP is enabled on the Deco. Operation mode is Wi-Fi Router.

I’m wondering if it is the settings on the Rogers Nokia FastMile Gateway 12?

I’ve read a bunch of the posts on here and the support documents and I end up going cross-eyed after a couple of lines. Can someone maybe give me some really dumbed down step by step potential fixes?

THANKS!

If you’re using a 5G router, that almost certainly means they have you in a [CG-NAT configuration](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier-grade_NAT).

You don’t need to read that. The long and short of it is that CG-NAT is a [form of double-NAT](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/#toc-3).

The long and short of it is that this poses problems for remote access. And while I won’t suggest that it requires “advanced” networking skills to overcome, it does require some knowledge.

Have you tried enabling [Plex Relay](https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766168-accessing-a-server-through-relay/)?

You can contact Rogers to see if they can offer you a publicly routable IPv4 address. Or see if they support IPv6…

Thanks… I have not tried [plex relay](https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766168-accessing-a-server-through-relay/). I’ll read up on that and see what happens. Greatly appreciate the swift response and help. Can’t say I hold out much hope of getting anything out of Rogers though!!! 🙂
