I’ve been using remote access for six months without difficulty. Suddenly, about four weeks ago, the remote access started randomly crashing, usually over night. Now, it’s getting worse. After it crashes, I retry and it comes on for a few seconds and then crashes again. I’ve tried closing my VPN completely down and Malwarebytes as well, but the problem persists. I’m manually specifying port 32400 and nothing has changed accept the behavior.

When you say crash, what are you meaning exactly? Does your player crash? Does your server crash?

Have you properly port forwarded on our router for plex to reach out?

By “crash” I mean this: " Not available outside your network."

Here’s what I’ve got. It used to work flawlessly just weeks ago.

#### Not available outside your network

Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network. [Learn more](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200289506/?utm_source=Plex%20Apps&utm_medium=Plex%20Web&utm_campaign=Plex%20Apps)

You currently have Remote Access enabled through a manually-specified port. If you wish to disable Remote Access, you will need to remove your manual port forwarding from your router.

* * *

Private 192.168.0.xxx : 32400 Public xxx.xxx.xx.xxx : 32400 Internet

Manually specify public port

You may need to enable this to establish a direct connection from outside your network. You may also need to configure your router. Detailed instructions are available [here](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138/?utm_source=Plex%20Apps&utm_medium=Plex%20Web&utm_campaign=Plex%20Apps).

Can somebody please help! This damn thing is driving me friggin crazy! Every time I think I’ve got it solved, it drops out again. Is there some way to look at a log and see why it drops out?

I solved my problem by getting a static IP address.

My IP address from my ISP never changes.

You need a publicly routable IP address (for the best experience across all clients, preferably an IPv4 address).

Did you already have a look at the related troubleshooting support article?

> When it comes to remote access, there’s a lot of different factors which can impact your setup. Some are under your own control, others not so much. First off… there’s a dedicated [support article on troubleshooting your remote access](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/). I strongly recommend you have a look at that. Find below some additional remarks on how to troubleshoot your remote access setup. Review your internet access / remote access configuration It’s good practice to review if Plex gets the correct public IP address…
