Hello,

I would like to open a feature request to have the ability to set a specific public ip for remote access (same as we already can do with the port)

 ![image](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/plex/original/3X/b/a/ba86975104f5167cffdc83f97c08ac363f6e769e.jpeg)
(sorry for the french screenshot but I believe it’s still understandable)

Use case:

- I have a VPN. It force all the outgoing traffic through the VPN (shame I can’t do split tunneling). Therefore when enabling remote access the public IP detected is the one from the VPN. I would like the public IP to be my public IP (for better performances but also cause I can’t control PAT on the VPN side)

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

---

This already exists.
Settings - Server - Network - ‘Show Advanced’ - “Custom server access URLs”

Keep in mind: it says “access **URLs** ”, not “IPs”

It doesn’t work the same way at all. What you propose allow me to go directly with a custom url or ip whatever. But it doesn’t work using [app.plext.tv](http://app.plext.tv)

Have you tried it? It works perfectly for me. Using plex.tv too.

What exactly did you put in? (you can mask the actual IP)

You used http **s** You can’t do that unless you also have a fitting, publicly trusted certificate. Which is not easy to get, since this is not a FQDN but an IP address.

Try with `http` instead.
Restart Plex server after putting it in.
Leave it sitting there for at least a few hours.
Then reboot one of your clients and try to reach your server from the outside.

**Ignore the message about remote availability** in Plex, because the accessibility test doesn’t work with a custom URL.

> When plex server is behind a VPN plex will use the public IP which the VPN uses. It would be good to have a simple ‘Manually specify public IP’ option for people to easily set up remote access. Currently the workaround is to have all traffic from Plex to go through the VPN except for traffic going to [plex.tv](http://plex.tv). Whilst this set up is good it would of been easier to just set my own IP. Also the fact a lot of consumer IP addresses are not static it would be good to be able to set this to a domain. …
