Remote access not accessible but says it is

Server Version#:1.42.2.10156
Player Version#:4.147.1
<If providing server logs, please do NOT turn on verbose logging; only debug logging should be enabled>

The remote access states’ Fully Accessible outside your network. ’ When I click on the provided link (https://app.plex.tv/desktop), the page works, but not remotely elsewhere. I have viewed topics similar to my issue, but I can’t resolve it. Please advise. S

The site https://app.plex.tv/desktop is not hosted from your home. It’s hosted from Plex’s own servers. Even if you turned off your server this page would still work. Your personal server libraries would not be reachable (only Plex content), but the site itself would still work.

Are you able to access https://app.plex.tv/desktop in any way at all when you are away from home? Or are you saying you are just getting a 404 or similar error and no site?

Hi, My neighbor cannot connect. I can not connect my Android phone to the Plex app or Plexamp. Typing in the public address in my phone’s browser does not work. S

Hi, When I use https://app.plex.tv/desktop the phone browser locks up. S

If your server has been running fine for a while and this just started, post here and have them check your certificate: Plex remote access issues - cannot connect securely - #162

You could look at the server logs as well, and if you see certificate errors you know it’s likely related to the renewal issue.

No certificate errors.

@TPMjr

I checked your account.
It does show Published (Remote Access is enabled and active) – 20 minutes ago.
There is no visible certificate issue.

I can confirm Plex/web loads from here.

Is your server running native on the QNAP (192.168.0.14) or is it in a docker container ?

If you can’t access the site at all that sounds like an ISP issue. Remember this is the same site people who only use Plex’s FAST services would be visiting.

No, it is 192.168.1.14. It is in “Container Station”, not Docker, a QNAP program. Now that you mention it, last week I turned off Container Station, and Plex worked. This may have caused a glitch. I also have Tautulli running in Container Station. S

@TPMjr

“Container Station” is QNAP’s name for Docker. :slight_smile:

Might you have both the native Plex installed (viewable in App Center) and another one in Container Station (docker) ?

Tautulli in Container Station is normal.

I have Overseerr and Tautulli in Container Station. Overseerr works with Plex and was installed when I installed Plex.

Am I to assume I am on my own, since no one has any suggestions?

@TPMjr

  1. Your server is published. (port 16225)
  2. I used my browser to connect to your published IP
  3. Plex/web loaded and asked for me to sign in – just as it should.

From what I see,

  1. Plex sees it as published
  2. Published IP and port work manually.
  3. Your certificate is valid (refreshed 22-Nov-2025)

You did have a server instance (same name) from over 7 years ago.
I deleted it.

Certain cell manufacturers make apps get permission to use the network.
Might that be the case for you?

The problem has been corrected, but I don’t know how it happened.

My friends were deleted. I don’t know how this happened. I sent new friend requests, and everything works. Thank you for your time and help to make sure everything was working behind the scenes.

Can the solution be moved to the top of the thread?

Marking the solution will cause it to be at the top of the thread for those who see it.
