@chuckpa Where are we with this issue now, still with the team?
Yes!
I’ve been collecting all the additional data they need from everyone’s log files (some 15 threads), finding and extracting the key pieces they need.
It’s daunting work but if helps then so be it.
Edit: Oh, and I’ve been doing my other duties in the forum and elsewhere

Yeah, I noticed that too! Nothing like a man possessed! haha
update: still functioning normally
I’ve been doing some digging …
I would like to ask everyone here to help by providing the following when PMS should be connected and remotely accessible regardless of the indicator
In your browser:
https://plex.tv/pms/resources.xml?includeHttps=1&includeRelay=1&X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
where xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is the Plex-Online-Token from your Preferences.xml file (or Windows registry)
It will return a fill list of XML.
Next, even while indicating “Red”,
Open your mobile App (not using wifi) and go to your server.
Determine if it reports “Indirect” or not. (music is fine for this)
I have done this with this even while ‘not accessible’ and been able to establish the limited (as I should) connection. This is why I say to use music.
Please send the returned to me via PM (Use CODE paragraph formatting around everything please) -OR- put it in a file and attach the file in the PM. Since these are your access credentials, I want very much to protect them. I would rather they not be on some other site.
If you also wish to send a screencap of what your mobile app shows, please feel free to do so.
If you have any questions, Please don’t hesitate to ask here.
PS: WHen you can make it be both “Green” (mapped" and “Red” (unmapped) while not expressly disabling remote access, this is the optimal test condition.
Here’ a quality photo just taken from my desktop while listening to some streaming music. this version of Plex is loaded onto Freenas 10 Corral…
Note how I am able to do this without Plex being connected to any external network!!
Also worth noting that my access is showing as “Indirect”
Indirect is supposed to provide basic connectivity when Direct isn’t possible. Plex Pass users are allowed 2 Mbps. Non Plex Pass users are allowed 1 Mbps. I can play some perfect audio to my car over my 1.5 Mbps upload speed
Direct gives us the full point-point server - client can create

Hi Chuck, yeah actually there is a major problem with indirect att. its been reported on several posts, this never used to happen on my previous Plex build, think there’s an issue with this one as I am a Plex Pass user too.
How so an issue that Indirect works when your “Remote Access” isn’t working?
We are having problems with Direct… This is known. It has nothing to do with Plex Pass or Free users. There’s been a lot of work in the past few weeks (this last week especially). You’ll see the results of that work as soon as QA completes their testing.

Yep Exactly!! thought it was rather hilarious myself… Glad to here you guys are working on the indirect access, I just posted some logs on just how slow Plex runs on the Freenas 10 Corral, pretty hideous att.
Let’s close off with the key Indirect vs Direct point here. Indirect works by design when Direct doesn’t. You have (as PP) 2 Mbps, 1 Mbps otherwise. Asking plex.tv to funnel all the traffic of all users through its servers isn’t possible nor is it the right thing to do. Indirect keeps you working, albeit minimally like audio / low bitrate video, in a pinch.
For Direct and it’s performance problem: Solved.
The silly green/red icon flipping but it still working: Engineering is working on the one-stop-shopping fix for everyone. bing-bang-done.
@ChuckPA
any news out there? hopefullyAsking
I really don’t want to grumble and I’m pretty sure or it looks like that the fix of the remote function is very complex, but I’m paying especially for that function per month. Can someone please tell here an update, when it will be fixed? thx a lot. Alex
