Remote Connection Fails to stay connected

Server Version#: plexmediaserver_1.19.5.3035-864bbcbb7_amd64
Player Version#:

Note: I have also tested it with server version plexmediaserver_1.19.4.2935-79e214ead_amd64 and 1.19.1.2701-6327e27bf.

It worked on this network on my intel 8100 system using Ubuntu18.04, when I upgraded to Ryzen 3600 and Ubuntu 20.04 my remote connection continues to drop out. Logs below

Your logs say the connection gets refused.
Have you already tried the usual troubleshooting?

  • does your server have a static local IP address (IP reservation)?
  • do you use automatic forwarding of your remote traffic using UPnP or have you configured a manual port forward on your server?
  • if you created a manual port forward… did you configure Plex to reflect that?
  • do you get a different result if you create a manual port forward using a different port (some port between 20000 and 50000 but not 32400)?
  • can you access your router’s public IP address at the given port from outside your home network (32400 in case of UPnP, the port you configured in your manual port forward otherwise; e.g. using canyouseeme.org)?

Static IP - Yes
Manual Port - Yes, I’ve tried with and without this
Different Port - Just tried that and same issue
Canyouseeme - This can’t find it, and my ssh client also can’t seem to find it.

No clue what happened, I just redid the port forwarding again (same settings) and it works perfectly fine. Sorry for the hassle.

hmm… maybe the router had stored some other connection details to ensure some other machine/software tries to sneak into that connection or to impersonate your Plex server – and maybe that detail changed during your server upgrade?!

Glad it’s working again for you
