# Remote control plex for pc from Android

Plex Desktop can be a controller, but not a receiver, of casts (i.e. you can cast _from_ it, but not _to_ it). The receiver capability did exist at one time, but was [removed in June 2022](https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-for-mac-windows-and-linux/446435/63).

Plex suggests using [Plex HTPC](https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-app) instead (Plex HTPC is the replacement for Plex Media Player).

Plex Media Player, while no longer supported, can still be downloaded from the [PMP announcement thread](https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-media-player/120475/105).
