# Remote mbps exceeding the limit I input

Server Version#: 4.143.0  
Player Version#: Unknown as it’s the client end

As title says, my mbps upload for remote streams is exceeding the limit I entered in PLEX server settings. I set it at 10mbps but I see it regularly spiking to 15mbps. I don’t believe my upload speed even goes that high tbh.

Is the reporting accurate in the dashboard?

Average is 6mbps but you can see the spikes in the image below.

The number is a transcoding target bandwidth. It does not provide traffic shaping. If you average/integrate the data packets which were sent to the client, you will arrive at your set bandwidth though.
