I am trying to create a Smart Playlist for 3 TV series that compose of the One Chicago series (Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago P.D.). I am trying to create a list that plays the shows in the order they all aired, since at times they do follow the same story line. I’m able to do this with no problem for members of my Plex Home, but this does not work for my remote viewers. I know I can add them to my Plex Home, but this is undesirable and not the way I want to go. Previously, remote users were able to watch these shows in the correct order. For the past year or so, this has not been the case. I’ve tried multiple things without success.

Does anyone have a way to get this to work correctly? For example, when watching in order, the playlist should shows Chicago Fire Season 1 through Season 2, episode 9. The next episode played should be Chicago PD, Season 1, episode 1 and 2, then go back to Chicago Fire Season 2, episode 10. Eventually, should come to Chicago P.D. Season 3 Episode 7, then Chicago Fire Season 4, Episode 5, then Chicago Med Season 1, Episode 1.

The remote clients are majority Roku, but a few Samsung are using Samsung Tizen clients, as well as the FireTV client.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Would you mind sharing how you created the smart playlist?
How exactly isn’t it working for the remote clients?

Hi @tom80H , sorry for the late reply. Life has been hectic.

I’ve tried multiple ways - I can’t remember what version of the server this worked on, I’ve had a few family members complaining but have not had time to really investigate.

One way, I have a Smart Playlist that is sorted by Release Date, that matches Show Title Chicago:

The other Smart Playlist is set to filter Show Collection, with the order being By Release Date:

Local clients have no issue. Remote clients seem to have the issue, unless I am just missing something.

What issue do those other (remote) clients have?

Still not clear what you’re trying to achieve and how it’s not working.

Want the episodes to play in the order they aired. Not just play all of one series, season by season. For example, should see Chicago Fire S4E4, then after that Chicago Med S1E1, then Chicago PD S3E9. Right now, if a user starts an episode, it will just play the next episode in the current season of the series.

Do smart playlists not do that?

Unless I am doing something wrong, remote clients this is not happening. Locally, works fine.
