plex dash is showing over 30 thousand plays for 1 episode of a show
Will this cause any issues with the database?

Not likely. But you should identify the user and the client device which caused this.
Maybe it is on a wonky network connection or this is a web browser tab which is in perpetual Pause mode.
So every time the browser is opened again or the device is woken up from standby the playback session is established again. And again, and again…
Could be also aggressive power saving settings on other components, like network adapters or network switches etc.pp.

I doubt it’s the browser issue as they have only used plex for 2 days lol and the player is an xbox. Very strange indeed.

A common mistake for beginners is to put the player in perpetual Pause mode.
Tell them that the server will store the playback position even if they use Stop.
(at least if there is under 90% of the file played)
Tell them to “wire up” the console, instead of using WiFi.

I have tatutulli and haven’t seen anything like that but I also have a setting enabled in plex to stop anything that’s paused for 30 mins

If you do the math, 2 days divided by 30 minutes, you don’t get even close to 30,000.
So the cause has to be elsewhere.
