I just found [Implementation of DTS Audio in HTTP Live Streaming](http://www.dts.com/~/media/87204edeac284e97b12c9545b36dabea/9302K76500A_Implementation_of_DTS_Audio_in_HTTP_Live_Streaming.pdf "Implementation of DTS Audio in HTTP Live Streaming") and [Implementation of DTS Audio in Dynamic Adaptive Streaming oder HTTP (DASH)](http://www.dts.com/~/media/b9e4cd8e8915416b84e77e56a4a254c0/9302K62400D_DTS_DASH_Spec.pdf "Implementation of DTS Audio in Dynamic Adaptive Streaming oder HTTP (DASH)") and thought you guys could use it to sooner or later (preferably sooner 😉 ) implement DTS audio support?! I also found [http://www.dts.com/streaming-and-media/streaming-and-media-formats.aspx](http://www.dts.com/streaming-and-media/streaming-and-media-formats.aspx) and saw that DTS is already supported in DLNA and even HbbTV (and more). Is DTS support not implemented because of the licensing fees you would have to pay to be allowed to implement DTS support into the clients? If this is the major reason we should start a Poll to see how many users are willed to pay eg. 10€ to get DTS implemented. Or should someone start a croudfunding and once the target is reached you start implementing? For sure first you’ll have to check with DTS how much they want 🙂 ---

DTS is supported in principle by Plex (and since a long time already). If you cannot play DTS through your client device, it is most likely your device’s fault. Which client are you referring to? Plex Web: No DTS Plex Media Player: No DTS Plex PS4: No DTS Plex Android: No DTS Can my Computer play DTS natively? Yes Can my PS4 play DTS natively? Yes Can my Android play DTS natively? Yes The problem is the Plex client for these devices just doesn’t support DTS. ---

Plex Web: will only learn DTS as soon as web browsers support ‘surround sound’ in general. Plex Media Player: supports DTS both as passthrough over HDMI as well as decoded to multichannel sound hardware. Plex on PS4: cannot say, as I don’t use it. Plex Android: same as PS4. But I am pretty sure that at least some devices support it for passthrough. here is a quote from a developer: > PS4 can’t handle DTS, > Android is a hard question to answer… if the Android device **​natively** ​ supports DTS, it can use the device’s local decoder. > If the Android device is an Android TV, then it will support DTS Passthrough if the ATV is connected to a compatible AVR (in a future update which will land soon) edit: another, more precise, statement regarding the PS4: Although the PS4 supports DTS per se, only Sony apps (and those of their special partners) have access to this feature. The software platform on which the Plex app runs, has no access to this. The best Plex can make of this is to transcode DTS to an other surround format and deliver that to the PS4. ---
