I think some of us still have some old computers that would be perfect for a Plex Client but it’s just impossible to run Windows on them and be optimal and run 1080p files. I have a ATOM ION box that I installed XBMCBuntu (or XBMCFreak) and the box run flawlessly all my files on my NAS (with VDPAU) and I just miss Plex for this machine! And forget about PleXBMC, not good! I’m thinking an ISO (with any Linux distro) file that you can install on a dedicated machine and it just run Plex, that’s it! OpenELEC is like that and even smaller that XBMCBuntu. ---

Having a distro that just boots to a plex client would be amazing, especially on small ARM devices like Rasberry pi. Imagine turing on your tv, which would then power on your device (Rasberry Pi) which would just bring up plex. Throw in some transcoding and we have got ourselves a very cheap HTPC. If this happened I would get every person I know to use this service (more than I already promote) ---

+1 There is the Plex linux client (Standard PMC client), but it is kinda a pain to get compiled and running. Likely with a little work it would be quite simple. Could even setup debian packages (or ubuntu packages), which would serve most people. ---

How about an official PlexBMC plugin for XBMC so it will run natively on Linux for any distribution or LiveCD you would like to use? ---

- 1 I would love a standalone installation that runs on a light linux distro. Took me 2 hours just to get Windows 7 installed to run Plex on as I had to create a bootable USB drive, install Windows, install all updates, install anti virus, install flash, silverlight, graphics drivers and then only can I install Plex. What would be even better is if it bundled both the client and the media server and you chose during install whether you want to install just one component or both. ---

+1 - or I’d love to see the devs give the current developer of PleXBMC a hand and get that working a bit nicer. It’s the one part of the equation that is missing for me and keeps me running an OpenELEC XBMC box for my media room. ---

XBMC Frodo runs on Linux and the Plex Home Theatre is obviously a fork of that. The limited development resources of the Plex team are focused on Mac and Windows at the moment, but I expect a Linux Home Theatre client not too far behind. ---
