# Request: Locked Posters

Hey. Like many people, i have changed a lot of Posters manually. But there is no locked-function for Posters, like it is for other Informations (Genre etc.). So the Posters are constantly switching, even if a have manually select another one. This makes the whole "Poster-change-feature" completely useless.
I have changed the Posters for about 300 Movies , just to see that everyone was set back a few days later.
So PLEASE add the same "locked-function" for Posters like it is with Genres etc. (once they changed manually, the Agents can't change them again).
btw. this feature is already requested many times (in the non-plexpass Forum). The first time is from february 2011 (!!) :o

If you use local media it always stays the same. I use Ember to manage all my metadata and it's stored in the same folder as my video. That way Plex just uses the local info and it never changes. I can see if you don't want to store local files how this would be really annoying though.

thats a good idea. But it's not really the "Plex-way" :)
I like the way how to choose Posters inside Plex. Thats why i really want this locked-feature :/

This is already the default behavior. In fact \*all\* posters, once initially set (even automatically by an agent), should not be updated on subsequent scans/refreshes. What you guys are reporting here sounds like a bug to me. I can't reproduce it, though clearly it's happening to several people.
Would someone be willing to try the following to help debug this more?
1. Restart PMS.
2. Manually change some posters, do a deep scan, refresh metadata, and make sure the problem occurs (posters switch back).
3. Take a screenshot of your agent settings (ordering, which are enabled and disabled) for the agent you use for your movies section (Freebase or The Movie Database, most likely).
4. Grab the following logs and upload them along with the screenshot from step 3: Plex Media Server.log, Plex Media Scanner.log, PMS Plugin Logs/com.plexapp.agents.imdb.log (if you use Freebase) or PMS Plugin Logs/com.plexapp.agents.themoviedb.log (if you use TMDB).

oh boy, right now, i am not able to reproduce it too :blink: really sorry :(
i noticed a few days ago that Posters has changed again. But i don't know when exactly this happend the last time. But the first time, when the 300 Posters has changed, it was definitely after changing the order of the Freebase-Agents. Like lazybones said, it seems to be totally random :( . But good to know it's a Bug and not a missing feature.
I'll try it again a few times in the next days, maybe the bug comes up again.

2021 clean-up: while there’s no lock showing, selections are supposed to persist (implemented; as stated back in 2013)
