Hi,

I would like to know if native SSL support in plex will be available anytime. Is it planned in the long run ? If not, what are the blocking issues that prevent that ?

Right now my Plex is behind an Apache reverse-proxy on my domain with matching SSL cert and works just fine, with the exception of the websocket. Since websocket does not follow standard HTTP, Apache does not relay it, which is logical.

I find this a bit silly a everything else works really well. It is hardly noticeable when using Plex as a "user" but when performing "admin" functions like refreshing section, editing metadata, the whole experience feel very empty and is not responsive at all (since many client-side events are websocket-based).

I would like to know if/how you guys plan on having native SSL support in plex. Being a python developper myself, I know it is trivial to override the HTTP webserver class to listen using SSL. So I am assuming there may be other issues blocking this from happening and I would like to know what they are and If I can help. As stated above, plex already works 99% behind SSL, the only problem being the websocket.

Thanks for your answers and I apologise if this has been discussed already, I found no thread about SSL in this section.

P.S: I am a bit dissapointed to have no replies on a thread about a bugfix I submitted. I hope the devs atleast read it. > We’ve taken the first step here, the media server now also listens on port 32433 for HTTPS connections. We’ll be allowing publishing the HTTPS connection to myPlex as soon as we update the clients, and then all communication between client and server will be encrypted.

In short; Plex is working on it, but it's complicated.

It's not known when it'll be done, but they are, slowly, chipping away at it.
