# Reverting from custom to file metadata

I am using Plex Web and trying to undo some metadata on a group of Christmas songs.

I have a Music library pointing to a folder of Christmas music. Sometime in the past I changed some of the fields in the edit to custom text. I have deleted all of the files from this folder using Plex and emptied the trash. I renamed the folder. All of the files themselves contain the correct metadata. No matter what I try when I give Plex the folder of files it still uses the custom changes I made in the past. How do I get the batch of songs to use the file metadata (or find it online) I don’t care which just not what I had put in previously?

Remove that path from the `edit library` section. wait for that to finish, optimize your db, clean your bundles and then re-add the folder to the library path. It is a variant of the [Plex Dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064) since you cannot completely empty a folder when doing the dance.
