Samba share visible as file

server-mac

#1

Hi,

I just bought a 2TB Big Storage with a VPS at a hosting provider, which is great.
Now I have 2TB available over SMB on my Mac Mini (Who thought about that, right?)

Anyway, I have mounted the drive through the fstab from MacOS and everythings seems to be working.
I have a small rsync job running to transfer all my media files over to the 2TB network share (which runs fine)
And from my Macbook and Windows PC I can see the files pouring in.

Bút, when I want to add the newly mounted network drive to my existing TV Shows library it just shows op like a ‘file’.
See: SMB Share as a file. private should be folder.

What is going on here? What should I do to change this? Thanks!

Small update,

I just filled out the path in the input field in the top, pressed add and removed all old paths.
Then it would save at first, tried again and everything showed up as deleted (as expected since not everything has been transferred). But then it couldn’t connect anymore and I think it crashed. The server is remote so I can’t check easily…

Small Update,

Log files do list this:

Not sure why I can do a rsync from the local user but why does it give plex a permission denied

I have this line in my /etc/fstab:
host.com:/bigstorage /Volumes/Network/Private url automounted,url==smb://user:pass@host.com/bigstorage 0 0

It seems to be working as root, but as my normal user it also doesn’t work. I manually created the /Volumes/Network and /Volumes/Network/Private folders and a chown -R xvilo:staff Private of chown -R xvilo Private would not work.

I eventually solved it by adding my group and user id to the fstab rule
