# Same movie 2 different qualities

I was wondering if I could have two different qualities of the same movie like 4K and 1080 and then have the choice of what to play. Can you just put them in the same folder? Or how is best to do it?

Yes. Name it the same title. At the end of the title, mark it however you want to distinguish the 2.  
ex. `Back To The Future 1985 (4K).mkv`

Once Plex scans it, it will look like this. Right click on the 3 dots (bottom right of title image), and select `play version…’

Incorrect!

Correct:

```auto
Back To The Future (1985) [4K].mkv
Back To The Future (1985) [1080p].mkv

```

Plex ignores everything in [Brackets]  
Plex REQUIRES a (YEAR) field. \<— (4K) is NOT the year field - (1985) is.

Yes, you are correct. I was referring back to my structure but was looking at my folder instead of the file name.

In the Plexiverse, if adhering to the rules laid down for our behavior here:

The folder containing the movie and the movie - have the same name - and both should be ‘correct’:

`Name the folder the same as the movie file`

If you have two versions of the same movie - the ONLY way to do it correctly is with [Brackets] - so that Windows/Other will see two different files, but Plex will see two, ‘correctly named’ versions and act accordingly.

You can create two different folders for each respective version, or you can put both ‘Versions’ in the same folder thusly:

```auto
A Movie Library Folder/
......Back To the Future (1985)/
.........Back To the Future (1985) [4K].mkv
.........Back To the Future (1985) [1080p].mkv

```

(the folder and the two versions within, to Plex, are perfectly named)

UNLESS - you have extras - then you would create two separate folders, putting the extras in only one. \<—experience teaches me that Movies with Extras should be indexed FIRST, Other Versions should be added later if you don’t want your Extras to disappear - and they will. \<---- I don’t know it’s part of the rules, but it does work if done that way.
