Samsung 2011 TV Plex App Stopped Working

The contact email on the TV redirects me to here, so I paste my mail:

I wrote to you because since the last week, the plex application has suddenly stopped working on my TV and there’s nothing I can do…

I have noticed the problem for the first time on the 27th of April. When I try to open de app on the TV, it stays connecting indefinitely in the smartTV menu.
This continues happening a week later, so I try to delete the app and reinstall it (the same version, I already had the last), and now I can open the app but I can’t login with my account.
I have tried with the full email and the short user, and it says to me that it’s not possible get the information of this account. While in other devices I can login with the same inputs.
So I thought that it could be server stuff, maybe a bad update, so I tried to downgrade to the previous version (I also have the last version), but nothing has changed.

I don’t know what else to try, so I tell you the problem and all the parameters of interest:
TV model: Samsung UE40D6530WSXXC (2011)
TV app version: 1.01900 (2016-11-10)
Server version: 1.15.4.993 (2019-04-26)

At least you can do that. I can’t even put my information in.

UE40D6100: Same problem, I tried serveral solutions but no effect

It’s possible the client is trying to use an older (and possibly unsupported/insecure) SSL cipher. Does anyone have the ability to gather debug logs from the client? Specifically, I would be curious to see the SSL handshake details.

Alternatively, if anyone is running their own DNS server (pihole, dd-wrt, or similar) and has the ability to force plex.tv to a different IP address for testing, I’d be happy to work together to try and narrow down exactly which cipher it is. Please DM me for details if you’re able to help. Thanks!

Yeah, ummm I don’t have the latest version but have the issue.

So here’s my issue. As I have stated above in my initial comment. I cannot log into my account on the app in my smarthub. The app version on my smarthub is 1.019. I don’t get the pin request. It just automatically asks to : “Connect with Plex Account” which I select then it moves on it’s own to the system menu scrolls itself to “sign into your Plex Account” the a pop up tells me “Login Failed”. I cannot attempt to put my username and password in, and after reading the other comments, even if I could I would still not connect. That is my issue.

Also been having this issue for about a week.

Managed to round it down to the TV unable to access http://plex.tv
If I try to browse to that address in the Smart Hub web browser, it manages to get the SSL redirect, but it immediately gets the following error:
https://i.imgur.com/BiV3eAi.jpg
Quite likely related to the issue we’re all having.

A change was just made to put some of the older SSL ciphers back in place which appears to have fixed the issue (confirmed by @AITCS). I’ll be working with @AITCS to figure out which of the ciphers are needed, and ensure we can keep Plex as secure as possible while trying to support as many legacy clients as possible.

Just uninstall pms and DO NOT UPGRADE. This piece of crap is not working again.

Do you think this will unblock what appears to be the UI bug in Orca’s app that seems to prevent our ability to even enter our credentials?

I know you don’t support the app itself, but I’m trying to think how this bug could’ve gotten triggered. I know I installed a sideloaded version (maybe 1.18?) a long time ago that let me enter the credential from scratch.

Also, did you add the ciphers server side or do we need to wait for a PMS release?

Edit: Nevermind! Got the pass through to the PIN prompt for adding, you don’t actually save your credential. Looks like this things working again!

Edit2:. Well, not exactly - I can see my friends servers again and all my local ones, but can’t actually browse/watch the remote content.

Can’t even get to a pin prompt. Can’t get passed anything. It automatically goes to system and tries to login without any info. This sucks.

You try in the last three hours to log in? Perhaps their rollout of the cipher change hasn’t hit all their endpoints yet?

Just did like 10 min ago.

Haha! Just tried it again… It’s Alive! Its Alive!:robot::robot::robot: :joy::joy::joy::clap::clap::clap::tada::tada::tada:

Right on.

Do you have remote servers your friends run that share with you? I’m having trouble accessing them; I can enumerate their libraries on that TV, but not actually get anything when i try to browse in to them.

Other clients working fine (pixel XL android app) for remote access.
