Server keeps crashing. Time Traveler needs help to save the world. Server Version#:1.22.1.4228-724c56e62

Server Version#:1.22.1.4228-724c56e62
Player Version#:Version 4.54.4
I need help figuring out why I am crashing. I have been sent from the future to save mankind from certain destruction with this plex server. Save humanity and get free access to my time travel machine. No grandfather paradox questions. I included my logsPlex Media Server Logs_2021-03-30_13-03-22.zip (1.2 MB)

Edit#1: If you are posting, I would post in the linked thread below since it is tagged under windows for PMS but I will keep the original link as well (the 2nd link in this post):

Might want to take a look at this thread:

I know that was for Linux but I am experiencing the same issues there running PMS on Windows 10 20H1 or whatever it’s called these days running PMS v. 1.22.1.4228. My server has been crashing for the last week or two seemingly at random. The application does not close but it becomes unresponsive and essentially crashes. If I quit the server app, and try to start the server again, I will usually have to open up Task Manager to end the process tree because it doesn’t seem to actually open up. Only then am I able to get the server running again until it crashes again. Sometimes only an hour later or sometimes a bit longer. I am going to be posting my logs with debugging enabled tomorrow in the other thread.

EDIT#2: I posted this in a sleep deprived state in bed - I am running PMS v. 1.22.2.4264 and Windows 10 version 20H2 (not 20H1).

Crashing is still happening on 1.22.2.4264 although less frequently.

The latest beta update apparently fixed this… although I’m still experiencing issues. Not sure if you’re using Windows or not… but I’m experiencing this on WS2019.

The issue appears to be the result of a database change which wasn’t communicated (and still hasn’t been from what I’ve seen in the release notes). After installing the latest update, start the server and let it sit, disable scanning etc and remote access - let it idle and watch the cpu, the database change uses a single cpu thread, once your cpu is completely idle, you should be good. I’m testing this now (restarted an hour ago).

Let me know how this turns out - also, what version are you now on?

I updated to 4264 last night and made sure remote access was disabled and no scans running, at that point I watched the CPU like Chuck was mentioning in my thread. Once the CPU was idle for about a minute or two consecutively I re-enabled remote access and let the server run normally.

At this point it’s been running all night. I’ll consider the issue fixed myself if I can go a week without any downtime.

I’ll try to keep this thread posted on the results, worst case just back at my thread.

You can’t even look at CPU usage on the Shield.
If it’s doing something to database, I have no way of knowing it.
The Plex logs don’t say a thing about it, if that’s what it’s doing.
Mine seems to work after restarting/force closing the server, then I go to bed, wake up and it’s unavailable again in the morning.

Am I supposed to just leave it apparently “frozen” for days, hoping that it’s actually doing something? This is really poor design, that the service should be busy doing something and just gives you absolutely no indication about what it’s doing or how long it’ll take… when you browse to PMS in the browser it should at least have a dialog that says “hey we’re upgrading something, it’s about 15% done.” At the very least I would expect to see log entries about this migration.

A new update was released today. I went ahead and applied it, so I hope it resolves our issues. I’ll keep everyone posted.

1.22.2.4274-a85c82272

Latest update (public) has officially crashed again. I don’t understand why after 4+ versions including beta, this is still not resolved. I am going back to 4163 and not moving. I can’t believe this is still happening.

installed 1.22.1.4275-48e10484b.

still crashing… enjoy my latest log file from the version listed above.

Plex Media Server.2.zip (976.1 KB)

June 5th as this crashing be resolved yet is it safe to update.

I’ve just replaced my Media Server with a SSD boot Drive and completely redone my PMS from new.
The server is DOG SLOW and keeps stopping, I’ve even uninstalled it and reinstalled it, it’s a bit better but not much.
In task manager the CPU is at 0% and I have 6 Chrome instances even though I am only using 1 for Plex.
