# Server - Nvidia GPU with AV1 decode, will not decode AV1

Player Version#: Android 10.10.5986
Hey All!
I’ve been using an RTX A2000 in my server for the last year or so.
The card can decode AV1, but not encode it.
Transcoding H.265 sources to .264 works fine, but AV1 to .264 results in the CPU handling the Decode/GPU handling Encode.
Current setup is a Windows Server 2022 VM (Proxmox w/ PCIe Pass through) with current Nvidia drivers.
I’ve tested with a Linux VM, as well as both OSs on baremetal over the last year.
Android client listed, but same effect on Xbox Se:X an web browser.
AV1 Direct Play works unaffected.
Can post the logs in ~1hour or so.

Follow-up notice: I can install the Plex desktop player on the same system, and it handles AV1 direct play just fine… with hardware decode
