# Set a specific folder for more frequent updates?

Hello,
I have a Plex server on a pc streaming to an nVidia shield. I have many folders that the shield can flip through coming from my PC. One of the folders on my PC is where my system automatically puts new TV show episodes that I like to keep there so I know what I haven’t watched yet until I manually move them. I really only need that one folder scanned more frequently is that possible?

Not sure why you need that “interim folder”. Plex will show you recently added or unwatched movies on the `Recommended` tab of each library as well as on the home page of the app (if configured accordingly).
You cannot configure Plex to only automatically update a single library.

IF the folder that the files are stored on are local to the server (at least in Linux) Plex can automatically detect any changes made to a folder or file and will do a quick scan. If you go to **Settings \> [Servername] \> Settings \> Library**, the very first check box says “Scan my library automatically”. If this is checked, it should scan the folder that was changed as soon as you place the file.
If the location of the video files is on another device/computer (for example, a network-hosted NAS), then this automatic option is not available, and you must either scan the library where the file was added manually, or rely on the periodic scans that Plex can do. These scans are scheduled in the same location as above, and can be as often as every 15 minutes. This is universal across the server however you cannot tell it to scan a particular folder less often.
Do as Tom says, rely on the “Recently Added” section of a library to keep track of videos you added to it. I used to use a “NEW” folder staging area for my media, but Plex made that difficult to use. Eventually, I discovered the “Recently Added” section is exactly what I wanted instead.
