Why is my router showing multiple IP addresses for one RasPlex device?

Here is a snippet of what my router shows connected
192.168.0.7 RasPlex B6:27:EB:B7:EA:D8
5 192.168.0.10 RasPlex B6:27:EB:A7:82:B7
6 192.168.0.16 – B6:27:EB:B7:EA:D8
7 192.168.0.21 – B6:27:EB:B7:EA:D8

I use Netgear R6300 Router with latest FW and configured my Lan for DHCP with address Reservation
I do use multiple Raspberry Pi devices of which 3 of 4 have RasPlex. Only the pi devices with RasPlex show multiple IP addresses. My router is showing 10 RasPlex IP addresses under wired connection. Wireless connections there are no Raspberry pi devices listed.

Everything works fine.

hi,

192.168.0.7
192.168.0.16
192.168.0.21

are the same Mac adresse, so its the same device and the same adapter. Are you sure this are the “Currently connected devices” ?? Or “Any time connected devices”?
Looks like the router gives different IP Adresses for any reason. I think thats not a big deal.

Yes, when I refresh the screen it’s the same and its for currently connected devices. Only does it with Rasplex. I will just ignore it and move on.

I really don´t think its a problem with the rasplex but with the router. Maybe you are just seeing the reserved IPs. Did you try doing a ping to those IP and check it against the reported IP of those rasplex?

By chance are they pi3’s and connected via LAN with the wireless enabled as well? That would explain the 2 IP addresses per device.

But would not explain the same MAC addresses. Each adapter (Wifi + Ethernet) has his own MAC address.

3 out of 4 of those mac addresses are the same. **This is not a problem with Rasplex/OpenPHT** but of your routers ARP Table, or the script used to display your Routers ARP Table. It is not uncommon for some consumer Router’s DHCP processes to dole out multiple IPs leases for the same device especially in a WiFi environment.

Try reducing your IP lease time to something like 60 mins if it bugs you or you start having connectivity issues that result in rebooting your router.
