# Simple plex feature needed!

I don’t really understand why plex makes you schedule tasks. There needs to be a “START Tasks” and “STOP Tasks” button. I want my tasks to run 24/7. I’m currently thumbnail generating a large library. My server backsup data and reboots on Monday mornings and now it’s sitting there instead of continuing on with it’s thumbnail generation.

Not sure you can get 24/7, but you can get 23 hours per day using the task scheduler. Otherwise you can use something like [Releases · WebTools-NG/WebTools-NG · GitHub](https://github.com/WebTools-NG/WebTools-NG/releases) to fire off a specific task.

The idea is to schedule the maintenance tasks to a time period where there is only low or no user activity to be expected.  
Because some of these tasks can produce high load and may interfere with regular use.

If you want to trigger some of these tasks one-time (i.e. after a file reorganisation etc.) you can use [WebTools NG](https://github.com/WebTools-NG/WebTools-NG/wiki "WebTools NG")
