I think it would be great if we were able to create smart collections like the itunes smart playlists. We could add rules like directors, actors or video resolution and they would be automatically added to the collection based on the rule. It would make it much easier to make useful collections without having to constantly add movies manually. ---

Oooo I like this one. The “recently added” and “recently aired” categories are nice, but I would like to be able to define my own. ---

I had a very similar idea and I just want to add some thoughts to your instead of trying to compete. I think Smart Collections would be great because as we add new content, the collections could be up to date… for example… I have a “Pixar” collection, but when I upload a new Pixar film I have to remember to add it to the collection or else its missing. Also - what about premade collections: that are shared by others - These might be called Intelligent Collections. Ex: - What If I created a collection called “James Bond Films” - now a “Smart” collection would just find every movie that stars James Bond and put it into the collection, but what if I want to do some “collecting”? I’d love to be able to download a collection from some repository, add it to my plex and then have a way of viewing which films I was missing. … maybe I have 10 out of 22 of the bond films, etc… and it could list the ones I’m missing. People could create a collection like “Oscar Winners for Best Picture” or “Oscar Winners for best Actor” These collections would be big, but very useful… like when A&E released their greatest 100 films of all time, you could have someone make that list in order, and we could all share it. ---

I like how you are thinking Bruck. I really like your idea about sharing collections with other people. I have a Pixar collection myself as well as a Best Pictures collection. It would be great for my collections automatically update when new movies are added. ---

Like the smart playlists in XBMC? I’ve had to move all my kids movies out of my main movies folder so I can put them in a separate section in the PMS. Much better would be to have ‘smart sections’ in the PMS and define rules there… ---

Thanks. Also it would be great if we could feature any chosen collection as its own main menu item - and shouldn’t “Collections” be an optional main menu option. I know i’d use that for lots of things like Currently Watching TV Shows ---

I don’t suppose this is being worked on? The ability to make a smart collection of “HD Movies” would be amazing! ---

I would love this as well. However, I’m not getting the feeling that the developers have time to work on these kind of features that in my mind would greatly improve Plex. I respect the developers a lot, and love what they have done. I’m just not sure how this whole approach of ‘Plex everywhere’ will turn out. But, here’s hoping some real new features (and eye candy) will come to Plex and make it more enjoyable! +1! ---

Realy great Idea. It would be great to create a smart collection witch includes automaticli all movies Ex, witch are tagged as unwatched and the release date is in 2013… that would be great! macmartin ---
