# Some movie posters are missing, randomly

Since quite a time random movies posters on my server are missing, about 1% of all I’d say…

Plex puts a random image from the media, and seems to find nothing else when I go in the poster section in the file’s properties.. it happens to quite famous movies which should have many posters available, and it’s’ kinda strange ‘cause Plex finds posters from IMDB or smth and concerned media have available posters on theses platforms… And I have to many movies with this issue to solve it manually by adding posters from internet.

As a company, Plex can get requests from rights holders to take down copyrighted / trademarked content. Do without further details on what content is missing / has been removed and considering the low percentage, my money is on something like this.

Check [watch.plex.tv](http://watch.plex.tv). If the movie is listed and does not have a poster, then there was a takedown request, as mentioned by @tom80H

You can manually add posters if they were taken down. save it as `poster.jpg` into the same folder.

Thanks, this helped. I knew you could always add media but i didn’t realize you could do it this way, so that it will always have access to it even if I have to rebuild the server database someday.
