so I noticing a lot of issues with plex not finding titles or naming them complexly wrong… is there no way to link Plex to search the IMDB?
but my question is I have Bad Santa (2003) movie and Bad Santa 2 Unrated (2016)
now Bad Santa 2 shows up when you choose Title or Year
but Bad Santa (2003) only shows up in Title but not year… and since there is no happy dance routine anymore as I see options aren’t he same… I try cleaning and optimizing moving etc… whats going on
and will plex ever read IMDB for movies as I seen under one setting it will do for Cast and Plot but not search IMDB for the database of mpvoes tv shpws
and how can I split up some movies not linking the same

it gets linked as same but they both different
Follow Plex’s naming & organization guidelines.
Keep separate versions in separate folders. Plex will probably still combine them. If that happens, you can split the movies apart then correct the names (click on pencil in lower left corner to edit metadata - see pic below).
For example:
/Videos
/Christmas <--- Library Points Here
/Jingle All The Way (1996)
/Jingle All The Way (1996).avi
/Jingle All The Way (1996) [extended]
/Jingle All The Way (1996) [extended].mp4
Note: Plex ignores text between square brackets. You can put whatever you want there.
ok ill try that tomorrow… and is there a reason why Bad Santa doesn’t show up under Year… but shows up under Title.
is there a an addon that checks plex to say these files don’t register with plex manual edit
and is there a tool that shows movies that aren’t labled correctly like a comparison

is there any search that can do file comparions so you don’t have to mnaully look at every file to make sure its correct when you have a very big movie collection
because sometimes say I wanna play Rudulph but Die hard will come on instead… and with a big collection I don’t have the time to sit there and redue it… and if I delete a folder or move it… its back to renaming it wrong after I edited it… is there a better setting to set plex to do it proper check?

like scan for file names compare to plex names… or display shows movies it couldn’t find matchs too… as it be a good features so if you have say 20k of movies impossible to really know what your missing what you have it can go and check for you
you mean the putting in different folder the happy dance if so
no what I mean is a program on the side…
like windows software Compare takes 2 files and compares if they duplicates or if you already have the file twice so
like I mentioned some movies get total wrong… like die hard and reports as rudulph
so what I mean is
can you request wish list of things toto be written program wise
so if you have 20k of movies
you run the app
it comes up with File name Die hard… Plex name reports it as Rudulph and the program says that’s not a match… and stick its in a TXT file and reports it as these 2 are not matchs and need to be fixed
this way if you have 20k of movies tv shows you can go and check it easily… not have to check every single file manually
and still cant seem to fix the Year issue cant get Bad Santa to show up under year
and is there a way to turn off Duplicate movies it will show “1 movie” then beside it “1991” as example
currently trying to do the happy dance but also they took away optimize database or so I remember can only scan library files delete trash refresh meta… but going to try again…

That’s not a duplicate. That is an automatically created Collection. see https://support.plex.tv/articles/201273953-collections/
so I found the Trouble shooting one but the first one +: to find optimize database isn’t there

I have HOME then my movie and tv show folders
ah so collections as I cant tell how many movies I have if it counts as that as one…
and sometimes a lot of times when I add new contact … Plex says newly added movies it will add the same movie 3 times beside each other why does that happen
and I renamed my “Christmas” folder to “christmasold” and ran the scan library and refresh and the optimize and delete trash to try to clean it all up
but the damn Christmas shows all still there lol it didn’t automaiclly delete it
as I cant fix the issue with BAD SANTA and BAD SANTA 2

You can get to it after clicking on MORE…
If you change the sort order to anything but ‘by Title’, the collections will not appear in the list and are therefore not counted as well.
Screenshot please. There could several reasons.
Try clicking the ellipsis ⋮ on each poster, then call up the Plex media info. It will tell you which file Plex has connected with that poster.
Each folder you have in the properties of a library, on the ‘Add Folders’ tab
needs to be:
- still in existence
- accessible to Plex
- not completely empty
Otherwise, ‘scan library files’ and ‘empty trash’ won’t change anything. That is a safety measure against temporarily unavailable folders and hard drives (e.g. unplugged USB cable etc).
ah ok.. for the 3 times it was under The HOME under Recently Added Movies it would show up 3times beside each other mostly I noticed on the XBOX app but I recently updated Plex for Unraid and the apps it seems to have taken the 3 times of the same file gone.. just shows 1 copy
so I got the bad santa back I ended up deleted Christmas folder then re adding it it fixed it that way
I found the MORE it was at the bottom of the list of my long list of sub headings.. you don’t see it as I used to the options on the Home screen
and that sucks you cant removed collections from Title.. there should be a check box to have that or not… so when I click Tititle it will only show the Tittles of the movies in my say Christmas folder
so if I have 120 movies in the Christmas folder.. Title should show 120 movies not say 130 movies as its adding the collection ones too.. as I trying to figure how to track down all the plex movie errors as I made back up of my server and plex and when I add the movies there it adds the inncorect movie title so I gotta edit that server too

plus id like to delete the collections under tittle.. just keep under collections
and why or how do I fix the collection I got 2.. . one has 3 titles other has 0
Edit your movie library, go to the ‘Advanced’ tab. Collections=Disable
I tried deleting the 0 movies folder and re scanning to see if it comes back
I guess the only way to get proper movie count is only by Year and then go from there checking all files
as I may have movies it says I have but I don’t because the file names are completely wrong so that’s why I was hoping for a File Compare program to tell you what files do not match if you have a big database

I have a 129 Christmas titles (physical Titles)… with the Collections was like 135 with setting the collections to disable its now at 92 under titles
but disabling didn’t do what I thought it ment
I like the Collections Tab for movie collections but I don’t want collections under Title search
so I want Title to show 129 movies I want year to Show 129 movies and when I click collection to show the collection of the movie series
but it cant do that… I guess there is no option do that
to Disable Collection from "Library"heading but not from the “collection” heading
gonna re scan library… don’t know why Title is down to 92 and so is year… going to rescan the database… as this confusing its now lost a bunch of movies
