# Some mp4s not showing up

I rip my dvds to mp4, but a few of them are not showing up. Anyone know a fix?

Logs will reveal the complicated answers:

Drag zip file to message window and drop it.

In the meantime move **Local Media Assets** to the bottom of every agent list under every tab:

Do not ‘disable’. Simply Demote to the bottom of the lists - also by dragging and dropping.  
Then **Update Libraries** in the hopes that some of the Unknown Soldiers will arise and walk the Earth again:

Did you move Local Media Assets and Update Libraries afterwards as was suggested?

here is the log file. I am sorry, but so far I have not been able to move the media assets because I don’t understand how to do it.

I did find how to move them, but when I do they move back. I can’t figure out how to save it

Your first hurdle is bringing all your file names into compliance:

I found one at random - they’re all out of compliance:  
G:\Videos\FLIGHT.mp4

Should be:  
G:\Videos\Flight (2013).mp4  
[https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/87502-flight](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/87502-flight) \<— TMDB listing for ‘Flight (2012)’

In the unlikely event that ‘some’ of these out of compliance file names are able to be recognized and indexed by Plex you will need to MOVE Local Media Assets to the bottom of the Agent Lists:  
[https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200241558-Agents](https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200241558-Agents) \<— that’s a link - click it - read the page - Move Local Media Assets by dragging and dropping it to the bottom of all those Agent Lists under every tab in Movie and Shows (at least):  
Plexweb/Settings/Server/Agents/  
Start moving Local Media Assets.

I don’t know how big your libraries are, but you WILL need to rename your files if you want Plex to see them. You can do this in one of at least two ways:

1. rename them by hand
2. let FileBot rename them for you in seconds (link in my signature).

Good for you.  
Are you seeing some of your files show up as you rename them?

You’ll probably see more when you Move Local Media Assets and here’s why:

The default location of Local Media Assets is at the top of the lists. This unfortunate circumstance allows Plex to peer inside MP4/M4V files and read their embedded (and likely bogus) Titles, actually preferring those Titles, even over a perfectly named file.

If you move Local Media Assets down the list to the bottom Plex will stop giving those (bogus) Titles tip-top priority and concentrate on your good file names instead.

I tried to move them. I put them at the bottom but when I leave that page and go they have moved back up. How do I save the change I made?

When you move Local Media Assets to the bottom it will re-position itself to the bottom of the ‘Active’ Agents (the ones that are checked). That’s fine and normal. You just don’t want it at the top.

If a ‘Refresh’ doesn’t work (Different than an ‘Update’) you may have to perform The [Plex Dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064)® on those items you are renaming:

1. remove items from library (move out of Plex’s view)
2. update library
3. empty trash
4. clean bundles

5. do your renaming outside the library
6. replace items into library
7. update library

Plex will often refuse to update an old bundle with new and correct info. It’s irritating, but there it is.
