Sony Bravia KDL-40EX520 | "There are no items to display"

server-dlna

#1

Hi all!

I updated PMS to Version 1.2.6.2975 just to find out that i can no longer see my tv shows and most of my movies when browsing media from my Sony Bravia TV..
I can browse folders (TV -> {Show Name} -> {Season No$} but then instead of the media files find the "There are no items to display" message.

Before updating I could both browse and watch shows and films so there is no naming problem. From the "surviving" movies it seems my TV can only recognise the MPEG files from the server so I tried to understand whether there is a change either in Sony Bravia 2011.xml or in the DLNA client preferences under Settings -> Server -> DLNA but I could not spot a problem.
Not that I have the coding knowledge to do so, just saying.

Does anyone have a solution or even any suggestion?

Thanks a lot!

Same thing here! After the update, "There are no items to display".

Any profile changed or was removed on last update?

I'm running Plex on Ubuntu 16.10 and serving to a Sony Bravia KDL-40NX655.

#3

I have the same problem. Other my players are working fine.

#4

I have the same situation with a Sony Bravia KDL - 26EX520. Any suggestions? It seems that it is able to see only mp4 files. MKV files cannot be seen.

#5

I can see just one MP4 file. All others, MP4, MKV... They're all invisible.

#6

It looks like a regression caused by the fixing of bug #5703.

#7

Same thing here... no fix after today's update either.

#8

Is there a way to download previous versions?

#9

I don't think so.
I remember doing this before Version 1.0.0 but not anymore.

Hi,

On my system I've configured the application data option: "The path where local application data is stored" to C:\Plex. It seems that ALL updates since I've first installed still exist within this path. To restore functionality I've:

  1. Uninstalled Plex.
  2. Reinstalled version 1.1.4.2757-24ffd60 from C:\Plex\Plex Media Server\Updates\1.1.4.2757-24ffd60\packages\Plex-Media-Server-1.1.4.2757-24ffd60-en-US.exe

All previous data like settings and history has remained intact. Now my Bravia KDL works as expected using DLNA. I'd urge caution reverting since I'm not sure which if any security vulnerabilities are present in this version. It doesn't bother me as much since my network is highly restricted and I don't permit external access to Plex.

Good luck!

Also, it seems that older downloads are still available if you know the version:

Windows:

Thanks, @10101000 !

It worked, as expected.
Although, rolling back is always annoying because of missing security and corrections of updates at least we can watch content on our TVs.

Thanks again!

It worked, @10101000 ! Thank you so much!

I just do not know if your answers should be accepted as solutions. The technical Plex staff have read this? They need to know about the bug.

I have it on Synology NAS but after cosmetic modification of @10101000 i have old version too.
So for Synology it is: downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server/1.1.4.2757-24ffd60/PlexMediaServer-1.1.4.2757-24ffd60-arm7.spk

Hi everyone, I'd only selected version 1.1.4 because that was apparently the last time that I'd updated before the most recent two versions which are both broken with my Bravia KDL:

1.2.6.2975-9394c87
1.2.5.2966-3f767e7

If you have access to any previous versions between 1.2.5 and 1.1.4, please post the full version string here so we can test them! I suspect that the problem might be the following "fix" which surfaced in 1.2.4:

(PS4) Crash starting music playback from a PS4. (#5620)

Take a look here if you're curious about the release history:

https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/62832/plex-media-server/p7

@robsonsobral I 100% agree that this isn't a permanent solution by any means. I've researched this a bit further and have run a recursive diff of all files between 1.1.4 and 1.2.6 only to realize that none of the Bravia profiles have changed. Unfortunately I think that a re-compilation of the binary files is required for a true fix.

Oh, really? Dammed! Thank you, man! Do you mind of add the spk link sent by @ziomber to your answer too, while it's marked as a answer?

Speaking of this... Please, who marked this as answered? @GoAs ? Is it possible to "unmark" it, so the Plex staff can see it as ongoing problem, please?

Thank you all! Thak you so much!

Thanks so much, @10101000 ! ! =D>

Still, I hope the Plex team will hear of this and fix the bug... the issue is not solved, we're only dodging it.

Good day,

I have observed the same problem with my SONY Bravia 2009 series televisions connecting to Plex Media Server on Windows. It appears the issue is tied to transcoding as the one MPEG2-TS file (the only format that these old SONY TVs can play natively) appears and plays fine. Every other file I have (which worked fine a couple of versions back - v1.2.3.2914 I think) no longer appears - I get the "There are no items to display" message.

#19

@pearlerina and @robsonsobral I can't find a way to unmark the "Answer", sorry.
The workaround was fine to tackle the problem so I figured I should mark it for people with the same problem to find a quick solution, but maybe I should have thought itabout it a bit more.

I think it is better if @10101000 posts it as a new problem, since s/he has all the technical details.

Thanks again, everyone!

That's certainly not the issue with 2011 TVs.
