# Sorting by File name in Folder View

So for some bigger series (MCU, DCEU, SAW), I have the movies broken down into separate folders, and the file names are numbered
ex…
01 - Iron Man (2008-1080p).mkv
02 - The Incredible Hulk (2008-1080p).mkv
03 - Iron Man 2 (2010-1080p).mkv
04 - Thor (2011-1080p).mkv
To have an option to sort by the file name in the folder view so you can still see the correct order in the folder, but when looking in the standard movies view they are spread out based on their title
I use “Sort title” for the smaller collections (Aliens, Bad Boys, Jason Borne, Dark Knight) which works great, but I don’t want to see a giant section of just MCU movies since names of the movies are all over the place. This would also be good if someone wanted to do a marathon, the movies could just autoplay in the order they are in the folder instead of by title order

I guess the feature you actually missed is [collections](https://support.plex.tv/articles/201273953-collections/)… there’s usually no need to re-invent this via folder mode.

yea, i had just found that…i didn’t dig deep enough in to the settings of plex
now i have my separated, but individual items show up in the library list the way i wanted them to be, i also found the sort by ‘release date’
sometimes you just gotta dig depper
