# Support for Karaoke Formats e.g. cdg

Looking around the forums there are people requesting this, but searching reveals nothing in the official feature request section (at least that I can find). This function has been supported in XBMC / Kodi for a very very long time, I would have thought with the recent addition of lyrics for music it would now be a trivial matter to incorporate the code.

Plex has really become the center of our entertainment universe, and as nerdy as it sounds, the only think missing for us IS Karaoke (oddly enough). He have thousands of songs in the format where a MP3 and CDG are made into one file with Zip. For Plex to be able to scan the name of the zip, find the basic song data (name / artist / year is a great start) and organize it would enable us to take our mess of files that today is unusable, and make it into an awesome entertainment opportunity.

Wife has a few hundred CD+G Karaoke disks. Would be nice to get this into PLEX for her. +1 from me. Would give a great (and more affordable) alternative to e.g. OceanKTV on Qnap, which requires a NAS model with HDMI out. Streaming video via Plex client and audio via pro-gear amp/speakers is the way to go!

Absolutely and I agree
It’s been a year since PMS was made available on the shield.
Still can’t get into the folders.
They certainly don’t rush things at Plex

To be fair, the Shield issue is a complicated one… They deal with what Nvidia gives them, who deal with what Android lets them do… But yup, should have been fixed a long time ago.

I think this feature would get more users than the “new” 3d (360) or whatever thing that you need to have google goggles.
But that makes too much sense.

I’ve been looking for away to do this, Would be an amazing feature to allow karaoke , Would also love to see it work with the VR app so can join friends for a sing along.
