# SVT-AV1 transcoding capability

Most browsers have started supporting AV1. Compression is on par with that of h265. It would be great if plex could support transcoding to AV1 to reduce bandwidth.

You would think HEVC would be a bigger priority but thats not even there yet so I wouldnt hold my breath
