The idea is that if I have a show on three different servers, I can watch an episode on one server and have it marked as watched on all of the others.

It wouldn’t be easy to make this work for series that weren’t matched with TVDB, but I think it could work for those that are matched without too much trouble.

This is already possible, either by the use of the trakt.tv plugin

> **[GitHub - trakt/Plex-Trakt-Scrobbler: Add what you are watching on Plex to trakt.tv](https://github.com/trakt/Plex-Trakt-Scrobbler/)**
>
> Add what you are watching on Plex to trakt.tv

or this

> **[plex-sync](https://www.npmjs.com/package/plex-sync)**
>
> Sync watched status between Plex servers. Latest version: 0.6.1, last published: 9 years ago. Start using plex-sync in your project by running \`npm i plex-sync\`. There are no other projects in the npm registry using plex-sync.

@OttoKerner

Thank you. I imagine this is a useful alternative for many people. However, this would not really work for me.

It would be better to have the option built in. Building it in would also make the feature work for Plex Cloud which I do not believe either of these plugins would enable. Additionally, it would be possible to do this on an unrooted NVIDIA shield.

My actual situation is that I have one Plex server (an unrooted NVIDIA Shield) and a Plex Cloud which has all of the same files for redundancy.

These plugins could not be used on either server. Even if I added another server to the mix, the plugins would not be useful as it would not sync with either of my two other devices.

I don’t imagine I am the only one in such a situation.

2021 clean-up: duplicate (+ 3rd party options)

> [@Watch status across servers (with same plex account)](https://forums.plex.tv/t/watch-status-across-servers-with-same-plex-account/70257):

> I have a couple different servers and a few items are the same on both servers. If I watch something on Server 1, and that same content is on Server 2 both copies of that content should be marked as watched. Ultimately this would be a feature either per server or per show. The other option would be to provide an export watched status script and import script on each server. This would need to run in an automated fashion at some interval, but not near as clean. Thanks,
