There are updates to sync in coming soon that should resolve issue, though I do not have an exact date I think it will mid month.
Is this on a chromebook or android tablet?

Excellent! Glad to hear it @BigWheel
PIN code problem is on a Chromebook again.
Any updates or ETA of the sync update?
Please let the members on this thread know if you want beta testers. I’m sure those of us with a problem will help test.
Are you able to load an older version of the client?
FYI, just received 8.11.0. Still nothing on sync.
FYI, just received 8.11.0.22186 and still no sync/download feature. Only affecting my Chromebook, not my Pixel 4.
Any updates or solutions? Kinda annoying with holiday time coming up.
Any updates on this? I am plex pass lifetime owner in which syncing is a mentioned feature and one of the reasons I purchased. This is killing the data plans on my mobile hot spot not being able to sync shows to my Chromebook prior to travelling. This really needs to be fixed quickly.
Is it possible for you to sync the content to your phone using the regular android app, then cast it to your Chromebook?
Not idea, I know, but maybe a workaround?
Casting to a chromebook doesn’t work. Also, the point of sync is to be able to watch content offline. Casting only works with an active internet connection. So even if it was possible to cast to a chromebook, still couldn’t be done when away from an internet connection.
So we still need sync functionality on a chromebook like it used to work.
Still having this issue as well…
I know you’re wanting to do this offline… But if you were to have a dummy wifi network (cheap $30 router not connected to the internet) you could use an app called Reflector to mirror your android (or apple device via Airplay apparently) device to your Chromebook.
Yes, Plex should restore functionality… I’m just trying to think of workarounds for you. I’d be bored off my mind when I travel without my synced content!
I think there are many possible workarounds (and I personally appreciate you trying to find solutions). But the point of this sync option is to make it simple.
Otherwise, I’d just copy the files onto my Chromebook and play it in VLC. Done. So it needs to be as simple as that or better. Sync was simple and better. Hopefully it comes soon, otherwise I’ll just copy files manually until then.
So just got 8.12.1.22702 (73b01953). Still zippo on sync. Still crashes as you try to access it.
This bug was originally reported in Nov 2020. It had started showing problematic symptoms before that as well where I reported that too. We were told there may be an update around mid December. It’s now approaching end of January with no indication of anything going on.
I’m a pretty patient guy, but when warranted. I feel like we’re getting zero communication, zero indication that this is being worked on. I can understand a delay, but is anybody actually trying to fix this issue?
Merci.
@BigWheel Can we please get an update? This is extremely frustrating.
cricket, cricket I think this is now long forgotten… just got an update, still not working.
It’s not forgotten, sorry for not replying. There are a bunch of fixes and some changes to sync coming soon that are taking much longer than I expected.
That’s what we want to hear! Ok, maybe not the “taking much longer” part… but happy to hear this has NOT been forgotten!
I use the Android app on my Pixelbook so I can sync for offline playback when I am traveling.
The Sync/Download option has disappeared from my media. It is still on the Android app on my phone when on the same wifi in the same house (so I know where it should be), but it is no longer visible on the 3 dots menu on media when running the app on my Pixelbook. It USED to be there but seems to have disappeared.
Everything else seems to work. I have tried to uninstall/reinstall and logging out/logging in. I am a Plex Pass lifetime member. The only issues I see is that the app crashes when I click the Manage button after selecting Downloads and Sync (which is empty) and when I click on the More option when customizing the menu, there is a red OFFLINE tag about halfway down (but media plays fine, so I am not offline).
I am on the most recent server version and have tried both the most recent Android app version and the beta Android app.
Any ideas?
I’m experiencing the same issue while trying to prepare for a flight. Have you found any solution?
