# Synology DSM7: Plex Media Server “Manually Stopped”

Hi, I need Help! (please)

Initially I actually “manually stopped” Plex Media Server (because it didn’t really seem to be importing new music), but now every time I try to start it it goes to “Manually Stopped” (or “manuell beendet”) after a few seconds. Befor this, restarting after crashes was no problem. How do I fix this?

I think I run the latest versions. The logs should be attached. Thank you!

According to your logs, the server was indeed being shut down and not crashing (as per Feb 10, 2023 15:36).  
IIRC DSM can do that if it’s running out of memory or other system restrictions apply/kick in.

However it appears the server is subsequently failing to even start (crashing before it even gets to write anything to the log files). According to the crash log this is due to a corrupted preferences.xml file – usually Plex will properly finish any writes to the file when shutting down… so it’s possible there’s something else at play too.
