Hardware Synology Nas 1815+
Software Version - DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 6

The pathname you need for PMS is based on whether USB1 or USB2

The name isn’t cryptic - /volumeUSB1 for usbshare1 and /volumeUSB2 for usbshare2

Here’s what it looks like in Linux (SSH login to the Syno)

I have 1 drive connected.

```auto
chuck@ds418:~$ ls /
bin dev etc.defaults lib lib64 mnt root sbin tmp var volume1 volumeUSB1
config etc initrd lib32 lost+found proc run sys usr var.defaults volume2
chuck@ds418:~$
Thanks, I’ve been trying to see if I’ve done this correctly but I don’t see files in my transcode folder while its transcoding.
You need to do this procedure.
– You add up how many folders your media is using
– Round that number up to the next even multiple of 32768
– Create and run a Task Scheduler script to do the configuration for you.
It’s all here. Ask if you have questions
ALSO – Let me know if you less than 8GB of memory in the NAS before you do this.
> FAQ 16: Increase the number of folders Plex can monitor Applicable to all supported versions of DSM. When the Linux ‘inotify’ table fills up, this will cause when Plex to stop automatically detecting new media you add to the server. It will also manifest when there are transcoder problems with Dolby audio codecs. Linux has a default table size which is static. We can increase this at will. On some versions it’s 8192. On newer kernels, the default is 65536 folders. This is easy to incr…
In addition to correcting the Notify errors…
The transcoder temp directory is used by Plex Media Server when transcoding.
Do not place any media there. Do not add it to a Plex library. Your screenshots show you have done both.
Sorry for the late reply, and thanks for the reply.
Yes I have less that 8 gigs i have 6gigs, ill hang off doing for now
so count all the folders
252 + 985 + 5697 + 6560 + 222 = 13716
Round that number up to the next even multiple of 32768 = 32768 (Id say)
Sorry I got a questions have I done this correct I read over the steps
 ![image](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/plex/original/4X/a/0/0/a000b231440f31cd5272931961d46e41d7b08957.png)
1. Add 32768 to the value: (13716)
13716+32768=4648413716+32768=46484
1. Divide by 32768:
46484/32768=1.41846484/32768=1.418
1. Add 1 to the integer result (ignoring fractions):
1+1=21+1=2
1. Multiply by 32768:
2×32768=655362×32768=65536
So, the final result is 65536
 ![image](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/plex/original/4X/e/7/4/e74cff5c01558f0f44a1dcead7709d33d27f800e.png)
sed -i ‘s/^s2s\_watches\_max=._$//’ /etc/synoinfo.conf
sed -i 's/^s2s\_watches\_max=._$//’ /etc.defaults/synoinfo.conf
# This is an example only. Use your actual result below to add the new value
echo ‘s2s\_watches\_max=65536’ \>\> /etc/synoinfo.conf
echo ‘s2s\_watches\_max=65536’ \>\> /etc.defaults/synoinfo.conf
Here we go:
1. You currently have 13716 folders
2. This is less than the first step of 32768.
3. We can try with that or just take the next step and be done. Your choice.
4. The next step is as you calculated.
> (13716 + 32768) / 32768 ==\> 1.418
> 1 + 1 ==\> 2
> 2 \* 32768 ==\> 65536
1. Your modification of the commands to change ‘262144’ → ‘65536’ is correct.
I had miscalculated earlier. Based on 65536, your maximum memory usage for this is 99MB. The actual amount will depend on the length of each path but I’ve calculated based on maximum path length of 1K each (most are well less than 512). You should still be well positioned in the 50-75MB usage range.
