It will not work with a default Plex setup.

T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, and many other carriers use [CG-NAT](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier-grade_NAT) on their mobile networks, including their home internet offerings. Starlink uses CG-NAT for their satellite Internet service.

CG-NAT places you in a double-NAT situation and does not support port forwarding.

Ask T-Mobile if they offer a public IP address that supports port forwarding. You do not need a static IP address. A dynamic address is OK, but it must support port forwarding.

Note that [Plex Relay](https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766168-accessing-a-server-through-relay/) should work in a CG-NAT environment. You will be limited to 1 Mbps streams (2 Mbps w/ a Plex Pass).

There are several threads on the forum.

Some mention using VPNs, the [ngrok](https://ngrok.com/) service, or other methods to port forward through a CG-NAT network. You can also search the Internet with “CG-NAT port forwarding” or similar terms.

I have many random devices from several produces and all of these devices I am able to control remotely (WAN) without any issue. However, when I want to watch PLEX remotely I have a connection/protocol issue. Strangely, I am able to connect remotely if I hit the RETRY button in my PLEX mobile app let s…

After setting up my router with the Static IP Address, the Double NAT goes away, but my Plex Server does not grab the correct external IP address. It is assigning the Static IP address, as opposed to the public IP address, which is different. Is there any way to fix this problem? Up until the CGNAT implementation, my …
