# Temp Preferences.xml files

Hi I am in the process of moving my plex media server and have been having issues with disk space usage so I looked at the install folder and can see many of these temp preference xml files.

I am just wondering am I right to delete these temp preference.xml files? There is around 240 of them.

Yes.

It’s concerning that there are so many.

There should only be, at most, one temporary.

(Read existing, open and write updated temp, switch)

Something is getting in the way. Permissions ? Space ?

Possibly space, I am planning on moving my server in the next few days, but is there anyway to clean up these temp files?

Yes,

1. Stop Plex.
2. Now you can see which of those files need cleaning.
3. Simply remove all of them except your main “Preferences.xml”.
