The new Plex Photos app, just loading animation

So I got really excited when I saw the new Plex Photos app. Been waiting a long time for it. I have a new Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) x 2 and I downloaded and installed the app with no issues. I successfully logged on to my account fine. However, when I start up the app, the loading circle animation starts and that is as far as the app goes. I have restarted the app, restarted the device, uninstalled and reinstalled… all multiple times. I have no idea why I cannot view anything on this app, or what it is actually trying to load, if anything. Anyone have ad this issue and know what to do by chance? Please?

I can only confirm this, has been like this since forever. I remember when the app came out I once managed to use it after showing this behavior initially but ever since it has just been as you described, permanent spinning circle, nothing else.

Any updates on these issues or when the Photos app will be under development again? Now that Photos is removed from the main app with the update today, I basically cannot view my photos at all anymore because the timeline does not load.

I would try the photos app again cause it now works for me without any issues.

It seems I was forced to install plex photos (Photos are no longer shown the the plex app I used) and I experience the same issue

I had the same issue.
Logging out and in again solved it for me.
Plex Server running on Raspberry PI 5 / Debian OS

I did a reboot of the Synology Server and Restarted the Phone, Signed out and In but no progress. Still only the loading cycle… really bad stuff.

Same issue, it works ok with small library but not big ones

If you wait long enough, it also works with big ones (100k library).
The problem is, after you close/open again the app, you need to test the patience again.

Is like the app downloads the cache thumbnails, then when the app is restarted it deletes everything and needs to download again from scratch

Just timed it: 2m30s to open timeline photos. On a S24 Ultra phone, Wifi-v6 connectivity.
