# Theme.mp3 ignored by Plex

Player Version#: 4.77.3

Hello. First, sorry for my English, I use a translator.

Here is my problem. For some TV shows, I prefer a personal musical theme, via a theme.mp3 file that I place in the show folder according to the indications of the Plex support.

Sometimes it works the first time, other times I have to insist, by refreshing the metadata, and sometimes it doesn’t work at all despite my various attempts, Plex persists in playing the theme it found online.

I have done a lot of cross-testing which has shown that the problem is not with the mp3 file.

In the agent settings, I have placed Local Media Assets (TV) in the top position.

I tried to restart the server, clean up the bundles, refresh again and again, unlink and re-link the tv show, many other manips, to no avail.

I hope someone can help me.

That’ll only apply if you’re using a legacy agent – not with the current `Plex TV Series` agent.

If you add a theme.mp3 file, you need to refresh the show’s metadata for Plex to pick that up. Also make sure it’s an actual mp3 file – not some other media type renamed as mp3.

it’s an mp3 I just downloaded, I tried several. I put it in the directory and I rename it theme.mp3

You can put an `mp3` file extension at pretty much any file. Most OS will play audio files in pretty much any format ok, no matter if the file extension is matching its content or `mp3`. Just saying there’s been a number of posts where users had issues and it turned out they were adding some other audio formats into their `theme.mp3`.

Please post the _contents_ (i.e. NOT the URL!) of the [Plex media info](https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201998867-Investigate-Media-Information-and-Formats) XML of one episode of an affected show.

the mp3 it’s correct. For my tests I copied an mp3 that was accepted in another tv show, so I know that the file is correct 🙂

Case solved.  
You are not adhering to the naming guide lines. [https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/](https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/)  
You have an additional folder level in in there. (don’t create folders for each individual episode)

I am assuming that your tv show library is pointing to exactly the folder `\\Diskstation\Séries TV`  
The theme.mp3 belongs directly into `\\Diskstation\Séries TV\Anne With an E`
