Transcoder Crashing Errors

Hi there,

I am using feralhosting to host my Plex media server. They claim that they aren't having any other users reporting issues, but clearly, something is wrong here.

I have tried analyzing my libraries, deleting and recreating my plex libraries, even completely uninstalling and reinstalling Plex (this changed the port that Plex was attempting to use). But no matter what I do, no matter what type of video file I attempt to leverage, I get the error:

PLAYBACK ERROR -

Transcoder crashed or failed to start up.

Attached are my logs. I am hoping someone can help me nail down what exactly my issue here is.

Thanks for the info, especially that you’re using Feral hosting.

Feral uses network namespaces for their customers. Everyone exists in one big environment and not ‘containerized’ as all the others do. As result, anyone running PMS is likely to kill you and you’re likely to kill them. We’ve done this rodeo with Feral customers before…

The short version is: PMS is not compatible with their service at all. The chances of Plex adding support for it is near, if not, zero.

Hm OK. Good to know. I will have to go with a different service for my hosting.

It’s strange, because I have run Plex on their servers in the past with 0 issues. Thank you for your response!

You’re lucky . What’s most likely happened is a customer of theirs has just added Plex. They start Plex and the first thing it does is kill you. (Last instance to start wins)

Should you restart you restart your PMS, you’ll kill them and you’ll be ok for a while . Sucks in the worst way
